As the 1963 season comes to a close, the New York Mets are guaranteed to finsih bottom of the National League. The Houston COlt 45s aren't faring much better with ninth place locked in. So, for game 162 both teams are fielding a strong line-up of rookies all looking to make their mark.
One of those rookies is Houston's Right Fielder John Paciorek, This is his first and only game of the 1963 seasonand he;s about to post a card that will be called "a perfect day for a rookie." Also in the Hosuton line-up is a core group that will feature heavily over the next few years; 19-year-old Joe Morgan, 19-year-old Rusty Staub, and 20-year-old Jim Wynn.
The MEts are taking the opprtunity to give Ron Hunt, who will go on to score two all-star appearances in a twelvel year career in the majors.
